The Full Story
TecCentro Wilkes-Barre is a collaboration between the City of Wilkes-Barre and the Tec Centro Workforce Network. The collective goal is to establish community-based bilingual workforce centers to serve populations that are disproportionately disadvantaged. Centers are now located in Berks, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Luzerne, Philadelphia, and York Counties. Each of these centers is its own 501 (c) (3) organization and works cooperatively under the guidance of the Tec Centro Workforce Network.
Core Services
Tec Centro's core services provide workforce education and skills training to unemployed and underemployed clients, helping to meet local employment demands and effectively lifting families out of poverty. It's completion rate for workforce training is 83%, its job placement rate is 65% within the first 60 days after program completion and its average starting wage is $19.64/hour.
Tec Centro Workforce Network has given living-wage jobs to thousands of underemployed and unemployed individuals, becoming the center of revitalization in the cities it serves.
Tec Centro Wilkes-Barre will provide workforce training in healthcare, culinary arts, ESL, and adult basic education. Participants will benefit from career
