Welcomed by Mayor George Brown and the City of Wilkes-Barre, Tec Centro Wilkes-Barre will bring a new workforce development resource to the community, expanding access to workforce education, skills training, industry-recognized credentials, employment services, and pathways to family-sustaining careers.
The City recognizes the value of bringing these services directly to Wilkes-Barre residents and the positive role Tec Centro Wilkes-Barre can play in strengthening the local workforce, supporting employers, and creating greater opportunities for economic advancement.
As part of the Tec Centro Workforce Network, Tec Centro Wilkes-Barre joins a growing network of community-based workforce centers serving Berks, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Luzerne, Philadelphia, and York Counties.
Each center operates as an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization while working cooperatively under the guidance and shared framework of the Tec Centro Workforce Network. This structure allows each center to respond to the distinct workforce needs of its local community while benefiting from the experience, resources, partnerships, and proven practices of the broader Network.
Core Services
Tec Centro's core services provide workforce education and skills training to unemployed and underemployed clients, helping to meet local employment demands and effectively lifting families out of poverty.
It's completion rate for workforce training is 83%, its job placement rate is 65% within the first 60 days after program completion and its average starting wage is $19.64/hour.
Tec Centro Workforce Network has given living-wage jobs to thousands of underemployed and unemployed individuals, becoming the center of revitalization in the cities it serves.
Tec Centro Wilkes-Barre will provide workforce training in healthcare, culinary arts, Workforce Language Development, and adult basic education. Participants will benefit from career
counseling and job placement support.
